Is Stingray PBS still supported even though Stingray engine won't be?

I know Autodesk is no longer developing Stingray, however I'm not sure if the Stingray physically based shader will still be there going forward. Is it safe to still use that that to create physically-based materials for use in interactive engines or is there a better alternative within Maya (I'm currently on 2017, but will switch to 2018 soon)?

Hi @adambds and welcome to the community!

At the moment the shader is supported (since it's still apart of Arnold) however I can't comment if anything is changing for the shader in the future.

Once I have more information, there will be a sticky post at the front page of the forum with information on this.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to assist you!

@adambds

I'd suggest posting in the Maya Ideas Station to make a case for a feature you would like to see added or a legacy feature you want to be maintained. That's the best place to post even though this is related to Stingray.

Like @sean.heasley mentioned we cannot comment on the development of future changes, but as far as technical support for this shader, we are happy to help our customers with legacy features as long as we still have access to them for testing. =]
