I LOADED THIS SEQUENCE IN A FILE TEXTURE NODE AND I MADE UV TILING MODE = UDIM MARI AND ACTIVATE USE IMAGE SEQUENCE

WHEN I RENDER IT APPEARS GRAY NO TEXTURES

So, to confirm: you have an image sequence that has multiple udims, and it's showing up in the viewport, but not in the render, correct?

First test: load the first frame as NOT a sequence, just a single file. Do both spheres render? If not, it's not the sequence that's causing the issue.

If they do show up fine as a UDIM set without being an image sequence, but go back to gray as soon as you load them as a sequence, that might be a bug? I'd have to bounce that up the chain to @sean.heasley .

... Wait, what happens if you change your mapping to 0 based, like, zbrush?

Hi @mexxmexx

If you haven't already I'd recommend following this tutorial.

Found this solution but was unhappy with all the texture laying needed just to get UDIM to work.  I found that I can just...

1. add an aiimage

2. check use file sequence

3. edit expression in frame to (aiImage1.frame=frame)

4. change the UDIM in the file name to <udim>

5. change the frame number in the file name to #### (The Maya style <f> doesn't seem to work here)

This seems to work perfectly.  I'm in Maya 2020 and I realize that this is an older post and things may have changed since this thread was started, does it also work in older versions?   I thought I'd add this just in case anyone else is searching for an easier solution.  Seems like the #### frame substitution is undocumented, or at least I couldn't find it.
