Automatic UV is not keeping proper image height/width ratio on simple object

I'm using automatic UV to UV a simple rectangle.  (see image)  When I use the automatic projector, its scaling the side projections to match the shorter sides of the object resulting in all of the object planes to be perfect squares in the UV editor (see image).  Obviously, the side of the rectangle need to be rectangular to match the object.  I've tried a variety of settings with no fix.  I've been using this for many years and have never ran into this problem, and I can't find solutions on any forums.  The planar mapping option has a "keep image with/height ratio" option, but I can't find anything like that in the automatic mapping options.  I'm on a MAC using Maya 2018.  Please help! This is the object showing the automatic projector, the sides of the projector should be square, not rectangular. This is the object showing the automatic projector, the sides of the projector should be square, not rectangular. This the result of the mapping, everything is square instead of rectangular. This the result of the mapping, everything is square instead of rectangular. Here are my current automatic UV option settings. Here are my current automatic UV option settings.

Hi!

Avoid having scale (especially non-uniform scale) on your Transform nodes. If you don't really need it, all Scale values of a Transform node should be [1 1 1].
Select all Components (like Vertices or Faces) and scale them for modeling or use Freeze Transformations ("Scale") after you scaled the object with a global scale.
