script syntax error, no line listed, in Maya 2020 but not 2018

I've been working on some mel scripts, and Maya2020 has started saying "syntax error" whenever I try to use the 'resource' command to re-read my script changes.  It doesn't show a line for the error or any other information. 

If I just restart Maya2020, the script works. 

In Maya 2018, I don't get the errors when using 'resource'.  Anyone know what could be the problem in 2020?

I don't have access to maya 2018 right now but looking through the documentation there doesn't seem to be a "resource" function in MEL. Is it possible that you are thinking of rehash?

Oh sorry, I mean "source", not "resource".
