Maya 2018 custom IBL

Hi,

So, I have a complex problem, maybe someone can help me.

We created a custom IBL light in Maya 2017 and we would like to use it with our custom shader.

Our shader has two different modes: textured and non-textured. In the different modes, the shader uses completely different paramteres for pipeline reasons. For roughness: the reflection_roughness (textured mode) and the eccentricity (non-textured).

The problem is that when Maya's "Use all lights" mode is on, Maya uses the eccentricity paramter by default to blur the IBL texture. Even if the shader's texture mode is on. So this means that Maya blurs the IBL texture under the hood, and I have no influence to it, only by the amount of the eccentricity parameter.

So the question is: is there a way to change the parameter which by Maya blurs the IBL texture?

Thanks,

Ferenc

Hi,

I am afraid you can't. It is coded to use eccentricity parameter. Sorry for the bad news.

Hi,

Thanks! Yeah thats some bad news.

I'm wondering if there is an another way. Can I somehow change the mapping of the attributes based on the texture mode's state? So maybe if texture mode is on use another attribute as eccentricity?

Thanks,

Ferenc

Hi,

I am afraid you can't do that. It is hard coded and I don't think there is a way to map an attribute to another attribute directly in Maya.
