Hi,

Long time listener first time caller here.

I produce a small 3D series that requires a lot of voice over work. Maya's audio tool set is rather anemic for what we do. Is it possible to somehow send timecode out of Maya to a another application like Nuendo or ProTools locally? It would just make our lives a lot easier to fully manage our audio in another application and have that linked to the playhead in Maya or vice versa.

Thanks in advance.

Send? Do you mean for the two applications - Maya and e.g. ProTools - to communicate in real-time, like e.g. Ableton Link? My experience is limited, but with Maya you've got the Python and C++ APIs to do what you need, the only uncertainty is whether ProTools/Nuendo have somewhere Maya can send information, like a standard port. And vice versa, if they send something via a port you can control. If so, it should be rather trivial to setup. Trivial to a programmer, which I assume is what you're looking for given that post is under the programming group. 🙂
