Hi, I try to do the same as in this video, but at 3:13 when "Outliner" appears, it's not show up in my Maya.
I'm using 2017, the video version is from 2016.
Is that why?

The Outliner should show up. Maybe it's off screen somewhere. After you open the Outliner can you try running this MEL command and see if it moves the Outliner where you can see it?

window -edit - tlc 100 100 Outliner;

The only other thing I can think of to try is to delete or rename your windowPrefs.mel file and see if it comes back. My windowPrefs file is located here:

C:\Users\yourUserNameGoesHere\Documents\maya\2017\prefs

Try closing Maya, renaming it, and open Maya again so it will create a new one.

You can also try opening the docked Outliner by clicking the button that the arrow is pointing to in this screenshot:

Hi, I tried to rename it but nothing happens when I click Windows > Outliner. I also paste the text but red box appeared.

Also tried to delete WindowPrefs.mel

Hi!

You know that the ("new") Outliner is already open in your screenshot (at the left side of your viewport) ?!?!

If you close it and use Windows > Outliner, it will open again.

More about the interface in Maya Online Help /  Documentation.

Yea, mspeer is right Smiley Happy  You have the outliner already open on the left. When you have the docked outliner already open Maya won't let you open the floating one at the same time.

Thank you! That "window -edit - tlc 100 100 Outliner;" worked for me.
