sub dividing or smoothing problem

hello guys , when i am doing an old vintage telephone i observed that in real time rendering it is not showing the sub divided model when press 3

The quick solution would be to apply a polySmooth to your mesh.

actually i found the problem later that in my render settings viewport subdivision is unchecked 

after checking the box problem solved 

but anyway thank u maybe it can help me farthur
