Type tool: type text vertically not horizontally

I am using maya 2017, the question imo is rather silly.

But when using the Type tool (from create), how can I type the text vertically? Like the letters are under one another.

I can adjust each letter using the Type Manipulator but then I have to adjust it for each letter separately and that seems like the long way to do something that sounds incredibly simple.

So how do I do it?
