Hi!

@Anonymous and @Anonymous.

Please don't post private data here in the open forum to prevent abuse.

Use "Send Private Message" instead.

Also don't simply exchange single Maya installation files as these may not work correct together with the other already installed files.

To prevent system damage only use installation files provided by Autodesk,

any other source should be considered as not secure.

If you think your installation is damaged please do:

1) A clean uninstall of Maya and all of it's components and then re-install the newest version (or any other version your prefer), which you get at your Autodesk account.

2) A reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2018 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2018 to 2018_backup (or even the maya folder to maya_backup). Maya creates new folders (don't copy preferences from previous Maya versions). Detailed at:

Hi!

@Anonymous

If you have problems like this with Maya you may switch back to Maya 2018.3 or contact Autodesk technical support, which may be able to help your further.

Keep in mind that this is mainly a user-to-user forum.

(Also some additional information about what you did before the crash happens may be helpful.)

Hi!

The information is helpful, just to know that Maya installation files can become corrupted, so thanks for that.

But for security reasons it's not recommended to use files from an unknown source.

You know your friend and you may have checked that you use the same Maya version,

but:

1. Other people may not know you (or anyone else posting here).

2. You can't guarantee that your file is not corrupted (,which may happen during file transfer to the other user). Who's responsible for any defects as a result of this?

3. Users may not have the technical knowledge to do such an operation, they may use a maya.exe from Maya 2018.4 on a system with Maya 2018.3 or doing anything other wrong.

4. If the Maya.exe has been damaged, it's also very likely that other files have been damaged too.

So the only advice should be a clean uninstall and re-installation of Maya by an installer provided by Autodesk.

That's the most secure way for all.

So, you suggest replacing Foundation and Maya?

You felt the need to capitalize Damaged and missed the a in virus, which means your talking about something, a thing.
