Scaling vertices vertically?

Hello all,

I saw this video on YouTube and he had vertices all over the place then he selected them all and realigned them with the scale tool in a vertical line but when I try the vertices go all over the place?

Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong? Thank you

You didnt selected all the verteces as he did.

Thx a lot! I thought I only had to select the vertices that were off but selecting them all did it!
