When I open the program the viewer is pitch black and I can't get the grids to show...
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had this problem too when I first installed Maya on my Laptop.
You need to change your Default Viewport Renderer in render options, located in the top bar of the window. Try all of them, at least one should work.
