I think your vertex manipulations messed with faces resulting some face overlapping IF I got it right from screenshots. You should be able to fix it with certain vertex manipulations as well.

 

Another solution WHICH IS A REALLY BAD HABIT that you should not get used to is to go to sculptin options and use the relax tool.

 

Upload the .ma file to help me further in case the case was not the above.

I'm pretty sure this is due to your camera settings. I'd play with the near clip plane of the camera. See my GIF.
