Maya 2016 selection in Maya 2017 ?

Hi there !
I've tried Maya 2017 for 2 months now, and I still got a lot of issues.
One of the most disturbing issue (and this is mostly the reason I'm still on 2016) is this (better in images, 2016 is first, 2017 is second) :
As you can see, for the exact same parameters, Maya 2017 doesn't want to properly select the face I'm pointing on (on both images, the cursor is on the top right corner of the facing face -the third one from the right).
Any idea why this is that way ? This is so annoying because it slows me down a looooot when I try to model something. I can't figure out why Autodesk changed this...
Another issue (but less disturbing), still for selection : when using the Tab Key (to "drag" the selection on several components), it also selects the components I can't see. It selects all components (vertices for example if in vertices mode) that are behind other components, which I don't want. To be clear, the "camera based" option doesn't work properly.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot 🙂
