Nonlinear->Bend not working

Hi, I have the Maya 2019 version and am having problems with the nonlinear bend function.

I am new to the program, but from online tutorials I haven't seen any other problems such as this. I placed a cube on to my workspace, and then resized it. After that, I added subdivisions on to the rectangle. After that, I went to the deform section, selected nonlinear->bend, went into the input to change the curvature, and this keeps happening. I can not move this either with out it further changing the shape.

Future thanks to all those help!Screen Shot 2020-09-05 at 2.14.26 PM.png

Hello, there can be a bunch of factors but thought I'd share this beginning tutorial and at about 8 minutes into it, he talks about bend and flare non-linear deformers with some cool tips.

Autodesk Learning Channel on YouTube for a bunch of other tutorials.

Hope this helps, good luck!

I have the same issue with the bend deformer handle having no effect on the object that I'm trying to manipulate. The video is useless as this point as how his version of Maya works is not how MAYA 2019 is working.

It looksbend-deformer.png like you do not have enough subdivision between top and bottom edge. The geometry needs more subdivision.

both the cylinders are same except the right side has 9 subdivision.

I literally followed every step in the video on the Maya Learning Channel
and it worked for them.

How many subdivisions are required for it to work?

more than 2... but it will be faceted. The more subdivs the smoother it
will look when you deform it.

If you are following the rocket tutorial ( the link at the top) then at 7.35 he is adding some more loops to the default CUBE. You must have missed that.
