No Edge loop on wedged faces

Hi,

new to Maya. I modelled sth testing the wedge tool. Afterwards I want to insert edge loops along the side of the mesh using the Multi cut tool but it cannot identify the mesh flow along the wedged polys. Is there a way to insert a complete loop like in the second image?

you can also extrude the entire area and use offset but edge loops only work on quads.

Hi!

You can't have a "loop" on a triangle as you have no clear opposite edge, in contrast to a quad face.

That could be true that other apps might have a superior tool, however Maya is still the best choice overall, that's why you are learning it.

Have fun.

Basically, you can use OffsetEdgeLoop tool instead, then double-click+del unnecessary edge. And, to avoid triangles, you can do Wedge with some small inner radius.. the result will be all quads, which means you can use InsertEdgeLoop tool.
