Modeling with another object ?

Hi everyone, there is something I think about modeling.

Sometimes it 's hard to extrude in some parts. It is simpler to model a cylinder and put it on the roof while it takes a minute to extrude one cylinder from the face. If the final image in the model gives the desired result, does modeling cause a problem in this way? (Outside Smooth)

Hi @Anonymous

Nope! This doesn't cause any problems and is often times the preferred way to model especially when working on buildings like these.

You may just need to watch out for faces that are inside the other objects and delete them accordingly so they aren't taking up UV space and/or clashing with other faces.

A friend of mine at Eidos has a simple breakdown showing how modular modeling like this is done you can find here!

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!
