Mesh Issues when opening file on different computers

Hello,

I had someone share a Maya file with me, but when I open it, the mesh looks different than expected.

The original model:

The model on my computer:

I've had them send me an optimized file, I've tried importing the model into a new scene, but it always looks like this.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is the file corrupt?

File for reference: https://we.tl/t-qskWnJCTno

TIA!

The original model already looks suspicious. And then, upon optimization, they possibly screwed it up even further, as it opens with errors and the mesh apparently has its non-manifold woes:

Get that unoptimized model and run Mesh > Cleanup (options), copy the settings from my image, except, first option should be set to Cleanup... then fix the "fixed" geo - fill holes, weld open vertices/merge edges etc. Or, ask them to perform optimization properly.
