Maya vertex selection issue

Hello 🙂
I recently ran into an issue with my Maya 2018:

A while ago I was able to select a Vertex if I clicked anywhere on a face that was near it, not only when I clicked on the Vertex directly.

Now I can only select it when I click on the Vertex directly and it's annoying me.

Does anyone know what setting I probably changed on accident could fix that?

The easiest solution is to just reset your Maya preferences:

That actually fixed the issue, who would have thought ^^
Now I only need to go back to the old prefs, save my workspace and hope I didn't lose anything important.
