Maya Crashing merging Verts

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new to Maya and started modeling a character for my game.

Modeling worked out pretty well i guess but i've got some annoying problems with maya at the moment.

I just modeled the feet of my object and wanted to attach them to the legs so i combined those objects, snapped the verts and wanted to merge them. But when i want to merge maya crashes, whatever i do.

I already deleted history, exported my model and imported it to a new scene but nothing changes.

Also the body model is getting quite laggy since some time, although i dont have that many faces on (round 3k)

I'm guessing there's some problem with me having doubled verts somewhere because i had this problem quite some time, but i dont know why this is causing maya to crash while merging.

I'm just gonna attach the scene to this post,

Thanks in advance

Leon

Try deleting your history...you cannot keep modeling without cleaning the history constantly, it's a habit you have to get used to.

And yes your scene is crashing my Maya too, I advise since your model is quite simple is to export as an OBJ and import on a new scene, after that start cleaning your topology, there's unmerged vertices and a few Ngons around...turn them to quads and start working with .ma files not mb.

Good luck.

Agree with the previous poster. You should start applying some scene maintianance. It is a bit messy. You got superfluous layers, tons of useles transform nodes hanging about and everything is named cube, cylinder or whatnot. I just cleaned history, removed useless transform nodes, separated your main model and then reselected everything and it combined just fine. At this point merging verts doesn't seem to be an issue.

I don't think importing/exporting obj files will do you any good in the long run. If at all try for fbx, but again that is not the issue here.
