I want to create a bucket. I created a cylinder and extrudes its sides. Now I don't have the inner wall, how do I create it? When I try to bridge two edges, it says "meshes being bridged need to be combined"

Bridge only works on edges that belong to the same model. You need to grab your meshes and do a Mesh > Combine. This will create a single piece of geometry where selecting 2 edges and bridging will work.

That seems to be a  single object, if it was 2 parts you would need to combine but in this case you wouldn't need a second mesh, all you need to do is an extrusion outwardly so the mesh normals are positive. Also you cannot bridge an outside edge of the mesh with an internal one as shown in your image.( This can create illegal geometry).

The top part of the cylinder is also not necessary to have for a bucket. delete that and just do an extrusion with a small value to add the thickness you want. Control + E or the extrusion in the Multicut toolset.

Make sure also you are working in real scale and using .ma format and incremental saves enabled and deleting history before saving the file for the next day otherwise you can lose all your work. Make sure to understand how Maya history works so you don't corrupt your files and waste hours/days of progress. And lastly , bridging is not fully implemented in Maya yet.

I can't follow this. I create a cylinder, delete the top, select side faces, extrude them, and I don't get double wall, I get zero thickness cylinder and a rim around the top.
