I'm currently trying to engrave the E on the building to create some optical illusion effect. Anyone know how could I do that? I have tried project curve on mesh, the curve however shift when I project it. Screenshot 2019-10-20 at 9.24.58 PM.pngScreenshot 2019-10-20 at 9.25.49 PM.png

Hi!

You can modify the Direction later in history node (polyProjectCurve).

If you want something like in the reference image then a texture projection should be the better approach.

I have tried texturing too. But there's different textures applied onto the house, the window etc. Apply a new material on it will override those and leave the windows and doors etc. with all same textures. Any ideas could i overlay a new texture over combined objects without messing up with the separate textures? Thanks!

Hi!

You don't have to replace existing textures.

You can combine and overlay textures by using Layered Texture or Utilty nodes

and you can modify the shading of a texture by using attributes in the file node in Color Balance -> ... .

Could I apply layered texture on few objects together? My houses are not 1 object but different objects consisting of 1 window, 1 housewall and 1 roof texture for different objects. The hypershade looks like this for a house. And the shade also gives texture of other houses so looks pretty messed up there.

And there's a problem that if I want to apply the UV of a house in camera view, I have to give up the UV of the seperate items, or do I dont have to? Similar to if I got three separate balls in red, how could I overlay a texture (let's say a text) on them with the UV consisting all of them? Thanks so much!

Hi!

I am not sure why you have so many shading groups, but it doesn't matter in this case.

Every texture can have individual UVs, so this also doesn't matter.

Just start with your "overlay-text-texture" for one material and then you can create connections to the other material networks too.
