Faces won't extract.

I'm new to Maya 2016 student version. When I try to extract the UV Texture of the legs on the Soldier.mb, I get a message at the bottom of the viewport that says: "Error: Line 0: polySurfaces has only one piece. Ignored." I have no idea why I'm getting this message because, I had no problem with the arms. I tried a number of times to get the procedure to work but, to no avail. Any suggestions or discussion regarding my problem will be appreciated. Thanks! If you need a screenshot to look at, let me know.

This is a screenshot I took immediately after selecting the legs and clicking Extract from the Mesh menu. As you can see the arms were extracted without a problem. This screenshot does not show the error message I was getting previously but, it still shows that the mesh isn't extracting for the legs as it should.

Hi Sheriff, I'm a bit confused about your extract operation, you have the vest as one piece now and the pants as a separate piece, seems like everything is fine now you just need to work on the UVs next.

Let me know if you still have problems.

As you can see by the screenshot, the legs still have a mesh applied. They are supposed to look the same as the arms; that is with no mesh. I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit as my O/S. I know that 3ds. Max 2016 has a compatability problem with Windows 10. Could that have something to do with my problem? The reason I ask is that the Maya interface is quite different on 2016 than previous versions.

Hi Sheriff, you are using the wrong words to describe your problem, but don't worry, we''ll figure this out, your mesh is totally normal based on your image, the arms are not selected so they don't show a wireframe, it seems to me that you have extracted the vest and legs a day ago, I can't tell if you have extracted the head from the arms because they are not selected in your jpg image.

When you say "the legs still have a mesh applied"...that does not make sense.

Despite that yes you must know that Windows 10 is not fully working in 2016 but this particular problem may not be related, I just want you to understand that your mesh seems fine to me and like I said you have separated the soldier in diffferent parts...correct?

Okay, so you mean if you select the head or arms, the pants and vest are also still selected?

Yes! I'll go back and give it another try. If it still doesn't appear right, I'll take another screen shot and forward it to you. Thanks for the help so far.

I completely screwed up. I forgot to extract the UV's for the vest before proceeding. Everything works fine now. Sorry I wasted your time.
