I have been having a really weird issue on Maya 2020 and Maya 2022 today. I have reinstalled the whole program and deleted all folders with Maya files and still does not work. The problem is when i try to insert an edge loop or a multi cut on a symmetry, it never cuts all the way, every time, it also somehow crosses and connects to vertices it shouldn't connect to.

Using multi cut with symmetry turned on - 1

Here i simply clicked left click to proceed with multi cut - 2

The outcome (turned on wireframe so can see bottom face) - 3

These are the solutions i have tried and not worked:

  • Resetting both loop and muti cut tools
  • Deleting saved preferences
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling (tried 3 times)
  • Deleting all folders associated with Maya on my PC
  • Cleared my PC temp, %temp% and prefetch folders

I have no idea what to do now, and i am working on an upcoming deadline for studies, would really appreciate quick reply with solution.

Thank you.

Same here, M2019. And, I am guessing, this is "normal".

Does same happen if you already have an edge in the middle of the cube?

Imx, Multicut usually doesn't work if one edge is crossed more than once.

HamsterHamster, thank you for the reply.

It works if i have a cut through the middle thank you for the solution. Although is there a solution to make it so that i do not need a loop in the middle first. Till now this was never an issue. I have been using Maya for 2 years and this never was a problem for me.
