I have an object i am trying to apply a .TIFF file to. For some reason the image file isn't coming in to maya at all. Though i have looked on several different sites to make sure i am doing the steps correctly something isn't coming out right.
Here is what i've done
Created the object
made the UV's
created a UV snapshot
applied and edited the image in photoshop
saved out as a .TIFF
created a new material in maya (i've tried lambert and blinn)
apply image file
assign to object
the color of the object changes a bit but the image file doesn't appear in maya at all. Am i missing a step? or not doing something right? I've tried to figure this out for well over 6 hours now. looked at all kinds of different sites and tutorials and can not figure out why the image file isn't being shown.
Thank You,

Hi @Anonymous
Thanks for posting! Any chance you could post the TIFF file you are trying to work with? I would be happy to look into this for you 🙂
Also, a good thing to try when Maya starts acting funky is Resetting your Maya Preferences. Doing so will reset everything back to default and clear out any processes that may have gotten corrupted along the way.
Lastly, when you press the 6 key, does the texture appear in the viewport? If not, does it stay the default lambert color?
Thanks for your time! I look forward to getting this resolved for you as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately since I am doing this at work and it is a private logo i can't post that particular TIFF file.
It appears EVERYWHERE as it should EXCEPT in 2 spots.
1- on the object as it should AND
2- when you create a texture in hypershade you had that little ball that shows the texture on the left and then the preview on the right (know what i am refering to?) It will appear on the preview in hypershade but not on the little ball to the left where all your textures are listed.
I have even tried this with another TIFF i created in photoshop just to see if it was the file itself... and it didn't work that way either.
I will try resetting preference to see if that helps
Hi @Anonymous
We handle confidential and NDA files all the time so when you get a chance can you please send me the TIFF file in a private message?
The file will only be on my machine and will promptly be deleted once we have solved your issue!

Just to update this thread, I chatted with @Anonymous and the issue was not being in Shaded mode with texture maps so this issue was solved by toggling that or pressing the '6' key.

Thank You for the help! I knew it was probably something simple I was overlooking.
