Deform problem Maya Lt to Unity

Hi,

i was exporting a rigged character to unity and a strange deform-problem occours.

First picture shows the body with rig in maya:

(the rig is not the normal form , i removed some joints to fit the joints to Kinect-joints-form).

This image shows how the character appears in unity:

If i import the model without the rig the model is in a good shape.

Can someone help me what could course that ?

Thx in advanced - Mathias

Hi mathias,

This is very likely the same issue as I replied to in your other post. When you removed some of the joints, it probably broke the skinning. Hopefully the other posts' steps to fix it will work for you. Let me know if you still have trouble though and I can help you further.

Hi, my first problem from this post:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-lt-general/problem-with-the-polygones-after-loading-scene/m-p/603...

was partial solved when i roated the armes of my avatar more in t-position - so the skeleton-define says "green" on all components.

I rotaded the arms a litte bit more to "T-position" (the arme were not complete "T") - and that made cracks/gabs in the mesh of my avatar/charakter:

maya_2.png

How can i "close" those gabs  ? I searched for soltions to fill these gabs (Fill gap dont work) but i found nothing.

I also could not solve the problem of the deformation after the unity export:

maya_3.png

The whole body is kind of streched and deformed 😕

I realy dont know how to solve that problem (if i dont rig the avatar - the deforms dont appear) .

The idea to rig/skeleton the figure was to use the rig-joint-positions to scale the size of the avatar in the unity engine on base of real human joints (i have data of human joints and their distances by kinect) .

May you or someone have  a idea to solve the "crack/gab" and the deform-unity problem ?

The maya lt scene is available:

- thx in advanced.

Ok, so I made a little video to explain the issues you are experiencing. Short of me fixing the mesh for you, I hope that this helps you solve your skinning issues.

Thank you for that great video - its actually the best support i've ever got .

I went back to a version were i haven't pulled apart the mehs of the body (so i didnt have to fix all the gabs) - thx also here for that tutorial how to fix them.

Also great that you have shown how to remove all these materials - i acutally wanted just one (the model was a poser import).
