Multiple floating outliner windows

Multiple floating outliner windows

Please make it possible to have multiple separate floating outliners open. This will make it possible to have different objects displayed in each outliner making it much easier to for instance do constraints between multiple objects. Check how that works in Softimage XSI.

The top/down split outliner mode is useless.

There is a script available that allows you to do this. But you're right, it should be an built in feature.

I think Maya currently has the ability to essentially have 4 outliners open right now...  You can have the floating window which has a split window capability at the bottom of the window (you just drag it up a little to reveal it).  And you can also open the docked one on the left side of the main interface - the button for it is underneath the panel layout options.  This one also has the split window capability.
