My name's Lorin, I'm a 3D facial modeler. I mainly work on Maya to create blendshapes.
As a sculptor I need all the time to switch between 3 levels of subdiv (film production workflow with dense topology).
The sculpt tool of Maya is very nice, and I use it a lot. But it will be amazing to have directly in maya a fonction (like an attribut in the channel box) to switch between several levels of sudivs. Mudbox and zBrush are doing it very well, but it will be amazing to have all the workflow in the same software (Maya).
The same fonction will be amazing to build facial rig too, imagine switching between level 1 to level 3, and choose the LOD, directly with an attribut !
For the moment, the only way to work with multiple level of subdiv is to import/export in zBrush (or MudBox). But the multiple level of sudiv are not bound in maya, wich makes them useless, you have to choose one level and continue with this one.
I think this can be a very helping feature for a lot of artists in multiple 3D backgrounds.
