Enable Stepped Preview option to exclude camera animation

The enable stepped preview in the timeslider is a great addition to Maya, but it would be far more useful if the cameras could play without stepped while previewing stepped characters/animation.

I hear you, this can be frustrating.  However, there are times people DO want this, so it's hard to make the choice which is "right".  Since it's easy enough to select those curves & hit spline again, we're going to focus on other things instead.

Seems like an easy toggle option and this feature would be huge for Previs Artists and Animators in production who likely never want to see the camera in stepped mode.  Also, it is not a simple matter of converting the Keys to stepped mode.  Particularly, in Previs where you may have countless animated objects per shot/camera and several, even dozens of shots in the scene that would you would have to selectively select in any combination per shot each time you want to toggle.

It is not about it being frustrating.  It is about having the options.  Maya is lagging way behind in the animation feature set and a limited improvement of the Graph Editor (which by the way is not being used at some large studios due to performance issues), a limited roll out of the new Time Editor that does not support many important animatable elements in Maya, and zero dev on the Sequencer which is quarky and highly limited in scope does not address the needs of the large user base.

Maya's anim toolset does not compete with Pixar's Presto, Dreamwork's Primo, and even dedicated off the shelf packages like Akeytsu.  Animators and Previs artists at other large studios (Disney included) are forced to develop their own tool sets and rely on 3rd party plugins like Animbot, etc. just to get functionality that should be default.  At the very least everything in Animbot should be incorporated into Maya, but that still is not enough.

Hi Dingo,

Thanks for speaking up & representing the previs artists, always good to see.  I'd be happy to get you onto the beta program so you can see some of the stuff coming, I think you'd like it.  DM me and we can work that out.

Well I hope this post isn't too late, but I found baking the camera animation works fine in stepped preview.
