Hello,
Assets are really powerfull to encapsulate and create modular systems like a Modular Rig System.
Is possible create all the modules, encapsulated inside the assets and publish only the attributes and the nodes to create Input and Output connections to the modular part. And encapsulate finally all the rig in an asset too.
Reading the assets documentation I found a lot of examples showing the encapsulation only inside the Hypergraph, unfortunally this option is not available in the Node Editor, the friendly and powerfull node based editor from Maya until now.
I request an extension of the Node Editor with the functionality from Hypergraph to work with assets. I think that assets are so powerfull but is not to much extended their use in the industry by details like that. Unfortunally transform nodes are used to manage the Input and Output connections and finally is a big mess have all the nodes at the same level.
We need the option to see the content of the asset in the Node Editor like in the Hypergraph with plus options that offers the Node Editor graphical interface. Like in the Bifrost Graph Editor, with option to work only with the asset to create connection between assets or other nodes, and the option to show the assets content to work inside them.
I don't know if you are planning to replace the Node Editor by the Bifrost Graph Editor in the future, will be good know this, but we need that you move the hypergraph assets functionallity to the Node Editor to enpower the assets and use them as a standar for encapsulation. As somebody developed them for that, and really is not to much used in the industry.
Thanks in advance.
