Hi all,
First, I really have no idea how to articulate well the problem that I'm having...
I am trying to put a groom on the Ruby rig from CG Meetup. I have deleted history, frozen transforms, and ungrouped the head mesh, then exported as an OBJ/FBX. I start up a new scene, import the mesh, and try to follow online tutorials. My problem comes with the scale of things. For example, Yeti and Xgen's brush is by default way bigger and way stronger than in all the tutorial videos I watch. I have to make the brushes tiny values (like 0.1) or I get a crazy strong effect.
I have issues in Yeti when I create guide curves, the attribute values seem to either take no effect or an undesired effect, whereas when I open example files from https://www.gabrielasalmeron.com/tutorial-guidecurves everything is normal. When I try to replicate what is in her files exactly on my own mesh, it never turns out correct (scatter populating all over the mesh/ignoring guide curve attributes, fibers don't follow guide curve correctly, etc.)
In xgen, first of all the update preview automatically doesn't work at all. I've updated my GPU to the latest driver (GTX 1070). This makes working really hard because I can't get interactive feedback, I have to click the icon every time. Also, when I create guide curves they are very thick and there isn't the density and interpolation I'm seeing in various video tutorials- when they create 2 guide curves, a bunch of thin, nice hairs are populated and interpolate. For my mesh, maybe one will show up but it is thick, strange, and doesn't deform correctly.
I really am banging my head against this problem, and I can't think of it being anything other than a Maya world scale issue...
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Maya 2018 with Yeti 3.1.13. I tried to attach an .ma file to this post but it errored out 😕
