Xgen file not created in project directory

I wanted to start working in xgen... but as soon as i do anything to the splines or hair, it gives me an error that file  path isn't found. I looked into the issue and found that the xgen folder isn't being created by the set of files created by the project directory. I have enabled the plugin from the preferences but that doesn't 

seem to work too... please help me.

did you try to save the Xgen description as shown in the screenshot? You can save it manually:
