Xgen. connect 32bit Tiff displacement to Xgen

Hi!

I have a groom work just for learning Xgen and when I have done all groom work on lion model I got a problem with the displacement map. I have a lot of descriptions so I create an expression for displacement and when I try to load a displacement map with 32bit tiff format it goes me to error...

How can I connect this kind of displacement map to Xgen or if it's not possible, please, tell me what I am should learning and which way I am should digging:)

Thanks!

Hi @dima.teslenko88 and welcome to the community!

This is most likely something wrong with the file itself. Does the name of the file start with a number of does it have "bad" characters like . , ; etc in the file name?

Also, you'll want to check your plugins and make sure the TiffFloatReader plugin is enabled and/or you may need to disable it then re enable it to see a change.

Hi, Thanks for the reply Sean.

name file: liondm and also I checked tiffloatreader and it is load...

Actually, if I load this texture and connect to displacement slot in the geometry, it works and rendering fine... The error happens when I try to load this texture in a node which was created by paint tool.

I also tried to use this texture but with 16bit and I got success, but I can't connect this texture created in expressions shelf to displacement in primitives shelf.

Do I miss something?

Maybe anyone knows where I can find instruction step by step how to apply displacement to Xgen?

Thanks!

hmmm.... I thought, first of all, I need to create a color expression on the expression shelf and then start to paint, after, load the displacement texture into this node and then connect it to the displacement in primitives shelf...

but, I will try this method

Thanks a lot

Hey @dima.teslenko88

Just wanted to check in to see how things were going. Did the method I provided help you at all?

Hey Sean,

No, that video is totally useless, but I found the correct way. I created a new 32bit Tiff Ptex displacement map via Modbox and when I created a new displacement map in Maya after that I just copied map from the Mudbox and pasted it into the folder with the displacement from Maya.

All the best

DT
