XGen can not create Clump map

I am getting this error everytime I am trying to create my 4th clumpmodifier: 'Zeroing a pixel in map since all points were disqualified.'

This Link is supposed to give instruction on how to solve it, but I am not getting it. 🙂 So a more detailed instruction would be very helpful.

As each successive clump modifier has to have a higher density that the previous (clump points) by the time you get to level 4, the texel resolution of the map could limit how small the clump cells can be. It may be that the clump cells are smaller than the pixels in the map. TPU is defined as Texels per Unit area (cm) so you may need to increase the resolution of the map. If you have a region map, you'll need to increase the TPU on that as well, as the region map resolution determines the clump map resolution, so that region boundaries and clump cells pixels will match. If you don't have a region map, you'll need to increase the resolution of the first Clumps maps for the same reason, as subsequent clump map resolution has to match that of the first. You'll need to regenerate maps for all the clump modifiers, though you don't need to regenerate points as they'll already be saved.

If you're just using the default resolution of 5, you should try 50 or maybe higher till you get enough resolution in the maps to define all levels of clump cells.

Thank you Michael, 🙂

I actually wanted to create my 4th clump modifier for only the spline curves, so very lowres actually. So based on your description I moved it unter the 1st clump and now the map gerneration/clump works just fine. It gives me the same error right after successful mapgeneration after all (?)

Just to reiterate, if you have multiple clump modifiers in a single description, for creating clumps within clumps, the clump point density for each subsequent clump modifier needs to be higher than the first or you could get unwanted behaviour, such as hairs clumping in odd ways. Each clump in the stack is dependent of the prior clump, they are really like clumping layers for an overall clumping effect. so moving the 4th clump below the first could have some adverse effects if the point density is higher than the one that follows.

I'm not sure what you mean bu having the 4th clump only affect the spline curves, though, as all the modifiers in a description will affect the splines.

Cheers

Okay. When creating the Clumpmap, you can either generate and specify a density value or you can create one clump for each spline. Thats what I was planning on doing.

Oh! you mean the guides? If that's the case, using the guides as the points for the first clump is fine, but you'll have to regenerate maps for the clumps that follow, just to be safe..

cheers
