Ive tried 2 times now, im trying to render this simple scene, it renders, takes like 5 minutes, shows up as around 3 gigs, but I still can't view it. It shows that its an avi file but ive tried viewing it in sony vegas and just the regular windows viewer but it says that it might be corrupted or unsupported, everything else works, why not this?

Hi!

Don't  render one big video-file out of Maya.

I highly recommend to render individual images, import them into a video application and render out a video-file from there.

Hi!

1. In Maya: Render an Image Sequence, as Image Format choose EXR, TIF, PNG, TGA, JPG, .. whatever works best for you.

2. When Rendering finished, load Image Sequence into a Video Application.

3. Render Video-file from within Video Application.

Please read more about rendering in the Maya Documentation / Online Help, for example:

Sometimes Maya rendering in AVI format if the rendering process is not fully done the file gets corrupted
It's better if u could export into images and do convert into video using premiere pro or any other software
