What is the difference between bump map and depth

Helli there friends .. i watched a tutorial in photoshop cc how to make depth maps and bump maps .. the bump is looking like realistic but it isn't .. but the depth maps is really realistic its like 3D !! So can i export the depth maps from photoshop and assign it to a mesh in maya ?! Like lets say a bricks wall .. if i make it depth map in photoshop can it be exported and applied in maya and still look like 3d object ? Not a bump .. a depth .. thanks a lot

ya .. thanks a lot .. it helped really .. so I understood that the normal realistic normal map (not illusion map) made in photoshop can't be applied in maya as a realistic normal map texture on a mesh .. thanks all of the maps is illusion but the difference is by quality I say
