weird issue with Wacom tablet

I am running into an issue with Maya 2018.4 and my intuos pro that I haven't ever run into with maya or any other application.  I am on Windows 10.  So every once and a while my the curser starts reacting as if I am pressing the right key although nothing is pressed so as I move my hand around (with my stylus not touching the tablet) the viewport is zooming in and out, sometimes if i put my pen down and use my mouse it also does this.  I have tried hitting escape, different keys like Q, W etc and  it will stop after a bit but I have no idea why it happens or what is happening and how I get it to stop.  I have touch turned off on my tablet and don't ever use it in any application. Would love to hear if anyone has experienced this or if anyone has any ideas on what might be causing it

Hi @gfaherty3

Is it happening with your mouse while the tablet is plugged in?

You may want to check your drivers for your mouse as well as your Intous Tablet and make sure they are up to date.

If none of that helps you could also try deleting your settings/preferences.

Hi @gfaherty3

Just wanted to check in to see how things were going. Are you still having this issue?

I've had that, and I've even had it without using the tablet. Maya suddenly thinks all clicks are right clicks, and the only way I can reliably stop it is a restart.

I think it's just a precursor to a memory crash, honestly.

I haven't noticed a maya crash right after or soon after that behavior and I did have it happen a few times today.  very annoying.  I am not sure if it is a Wacom thing or a windows thing or a maya thing.  only happens in Maya.

Hi @gfaherty3

I believe this is a specific issue with Wacoms drivers.

There have been a few issues like this and some different ones in the past like 3-6 months and I know they were working on new drivers to resolve some of these.

So the most recent driver for you tablet didn't change anything?

You could also try updating to Update 5 of 2018 and see if that helps.

I just downloaded and updated Maya to 2018.5 and also updated wacom
drivers. I thought they were up to date but maybe they just released
another round. I think I have had the issue since both updates but will
keep an eye out and either respond or close this thread as solved.
Thanks,
Greg

Hey @gfaherty3

Just wanted to check in to see how things were going. Did updating help your drivers/Maya version help at all?

Hi @gfaherty3

Darn was hoping that would solve it.

Can you go to your setting and disable Multi Touch Gesture and see if anything changes?

Finally, if that doesn't help, can you post a video of this happening and ideally talk over it so we know when you put your tablet pen down etc. It sounds like this is an issue that needs to be logged but since there aren't any solid repro steps a video could help the development team look into this.

If you need a video capturing program, Screencast is a great option that we use here at Autodesk
