Depends what you want to do with the file.. generally I wouldn't work with EXRs in Max or Maya. They're too big normally and not supported for stuff like reference imagery. If you have an animation tho you can load them into the RAM player. Stick with PNGs,JPEGs or TARGAs. OpenEXRs can be opened in Photoshop with a plugin if you want to convert it.

I'm trying to import a model named as Eisko louise (https://www.eisko.com/louise/virtual-model) which has EXR files for textures of the model. I've tried enabling the LoadOpenEXR.mll through the plugin but still it is giving unrecognized file type error. i can't understand why?

Looking at the files myself they're all PNGs anyways. Where are you finding the .exr?

If you are doing this in Maya, you should post question to the Maya forum if you have not already done so, as I am not sure the issues/answer will be the same in Max and Maya.

Hi!

(Please don't create duplicate posts, that's against the forum rules.)

File -> Import should be used for 3D scenes and not other files like images.

Textures image files will be loaded by setting the correct path in a file node.

Please use file -> Open Scene... to open the Maya scene, which should load all files including the textures if the project is correct set up.
