The undo queque randomly keeps turning off on multiple machines here in the studio. We are on OSX High Sierra Running maya 2018.3
Really annoying please fix. There are a lot of users experiencing this problem, at least I saw a lot of forum posts about this issue. Delete prefs doesn't help. I keep wondering.. why on earth would someone turn undo off in the first place?!!
You could check your userPrefs.mel file. and look for a line that says '-iv "undoIsEnabled"'. If it's followed by a 1, undo should be on. If it's followed by a 0, undo is disabled.
It should be where your prefs folder is which for Mac is
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/VERSION/
Once you've checked that, you can go to Preferences: Settings -> Save Actions -> Save all preferences when Maya exits ("disable") and this should stop this from happening again in the future.
Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

If it's off turn it back on. You need it to be on to undo. Otherwise you won't be able to undo. Don't tun it off unless you need it to not be on.
I'm just checking in again to see if you need more help with this. Did the suggestion I provided yesterday work for you?

This is happening to me in Maya 2018. I can work for hours with no problem, then when I make a huge change I need to undo- the queue is off all of the sudden. Seems completely random but seems to happen when you need it the most.
This happens to me a lot as well. Preferences are set to save actions. But randomly undo turns off...which I only discover when I try to undo something.
I feel like there is some hotkey I am accidentally hitting to turn off undo; is there such a hotkey? If this is not the case, this is a serious bug.
Yeah, I understand how to go into the preferences and check this box to re-enable the undo feature, but why does it keep randomly unchecking and nuking my workflow? Why does this feature exist at all?
This is kind of like designing a car and you think it might be a good idea to add a "self-destruct engine" button and place it next to the volume on the stereo. It's bad UI and it seems almost like it was done out of pure spite or cruelty.
My prefs still randomly disable undo and I only find out halfway through some work which requires something to be undone, and this forces me to simply start over from scratch. This is a huge problem, the feature should be simply removed and if you really need your VRAM that badly you can set the undo limit to 1 or even 0.
