Undo Boolean Union (if you do have History)?

Hello  everyone!

I had a few polygon primitives and decided to combine them together using mesh --> booleans --> union, but now a while later I noticed that I actually should still have them seperate. How can I seperate the union back into the original shapes?

I do still have the history of it and I can select the individual objects that make up the union although they are invisible. I tried looking online, but without success.

Any help would be much appreciated! I've got Maya 2018 if that helps.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Generally if you're going to combine two objects, its best to use Mesh->Combine that way they can be separated if need be.

That said, for your issue your best bet to separate them would be to select all the faces of one of the objects and go to Edit Mesh->Detach.

Once they are detached you can select the mesh as a whole and go to Mesh->Separate.

Please let me know if this helps solve your issue or if you need any more assistance!

Hi!

The original mesh and transform nodes are only hidden.

Just make them visible again:

Transform node: Object Display -> Visibility (toggle)

Mesh node: Object Display -> Intermediate Object (toggle)
