I am attempting to follow this video https://youtu.be/BbNfAME1Km4?list=PL8hZ6hQCGHMUn5NdkAQpWBG7xxGFP480q&t=315  and I am unable to change the trail taper curve because it is grayed out.

Hi @molbyaaron

I think you attached the wrong screenshot as it was a random URL to a student website.

That said, even in the video the option looks greyed out until they clicked on the actual curve path then all the options were no longer greyed out.

Can you try that and/or post the screenshot again so I can see what's going wrong?

Hi @molbyaaron

Hmm ok. What version of Maya are you using and is it up to date?

Also when you get a chance can you please zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program so I can take a look at it? If the file is confidential or under NDA please send it to me in a private message instead of posting it here.

Hi @molbyaaron

Thanks for attaching the file! The videos aren't appearing for some reason but its no big deal.

I believe this actually isn't an issue for you. If you change the Trail Mode to something like Join the Dots you're able to modify the taper curve. However if you set it back to Connect to Nearest like in the video it greys out again.

The reason this isn't an issue is because since it greyed out its not actually affecting your MASH trails. In the video he says hes using it to make the trails the same width from start to finish but if you look at your scene they already are that way.

That said, you can simply change the trail mode, tweak the graph, and then change it back if you absolutely need to change it!
