Strange Ground line fanning...anyone seen this?

Hi,

Never had this issue until now. For some reason, I am getting my ground lines to distort towards the further distance from the camera.

Please see image.

Anyone every seen this issue before?

I am using Arnold standard shader in maya 2017

Thanks

Hi!

Please upload a scene-file containing the problematic object and texture.

Yeah, I would like to see the scene file as well.  I would almost point my finger to some form of mipmapping or other filter setting, but I am not sure.

Thanks guys, I will try to get the scene file for you.

Of course  maya crashed before I had a chance to save my changes, so I will have to rebuild the scene and hopefully recreate the same problems. (sounds counter-intuitive)

Here is the Maya 2017 file with road texture. Please have a look to see this issue that's driving me nuts.

I also included 2 images that show the issue at certain camera angles. Mostly  eye level.

Thanks,

Lou

Hi!

This is a problem with the place2dTexture node.

When using any of the Rotate Attributes (Rotate Frame and Rotate UV) the mip mapping of the texture will not be computed correct in Arnold.

So possible solutions are:

A) Rotate the UV's in the UV editor and not in the Texture Placement Node (recommended)

B) Set Mip-map Bias to -3 or lower (not recommended)

Please report this problem (bug?) to Autodesk.

Thanks so much for this help.

But I have to ask..... How did you come to this conclusion?

How did you figure that out?

In any event,  THANKS!

Hi!

Sorry, i just used my knowledge and experience, nothing special.

Because of the relation to the camera angle and the use of Arnold a problem with texture interpolation / mip mapping seemed to be obvious.

Please mark every answer that solves your problem as solution, so others interested in this thread will get a better overview.
