Some questions about the Development of this software!

1. Will we be getting a modifier-stack system like in 3ds Max, which has been on top of the Ideas forum for years now?

2. Will Bifrost soon have capabilities similar to what we see in Blender's geometry nodes?

3. Will we be getting a native realtime renderer like in Marmoset/Substance/Blender(Eevee)?

4. What else can we expect about the future of this software?

Thank you all!

The modifier stack is not very useful.

It corrupts the mesh easily if you don't collapse and reload the scene.

After that the mesh is royally screwed.

After using 3ds Max and Maya for the last 10 months, I appreciate Blender and will stick with it.

Maya does have a history stack. And therefore its not an easy task to create something like a mod stack. And it wont work with any other tools in maya. It would block all kind of workflows we have now. For example you wont be able to adjust the uvs without adding a uv modifier to the stack. If you love to work with a stack use max.

2. Will Bifrost soon have capabilities similar to what we see in Blender's geometry nodes?

Bifrost is visual coding. Its designed to create your own tools. Its for TD at the moment. You can do most of the things Blender can but not user friendly. And as Maya is aimed at Studios with TDs this wont change soon.

3. Will we be getting a native realtime renderer like in Marmoset/Substance/Blender(Eevee)?

Again Maya is aimend at Big Studios. They create massive scenes with giant data. That wont fit in a realtime solution. The current project for a "new" Maya viewport is Hydra. With Hydra you can replace the viewport with any Hydra compilant render. At the moment its Pixars Storm render if you turn on Hydra in Maya. But it could also load Unreal into Maya.

4. What else can we expect about the future of this software?

The push to a full USD and materialX pipeline. But thats nothing a little studio or a single Artist does need. It does enable big Studios to create even more complex scenes and work seamless with other Studios and DCCs.
