Scale UV shells to a precise size

I have some UV shells I want to conform to a certain size so the texture is rendered exactly at real world scale.

A texture image in the UV editor fills the 1.0 x 1.0 primary UV domain. It represents a 200 cm wide and 2,5 cm high strip of ornament. The shell represents a 102 cm wide and 2,5 cm high strip in the real world. Thus, I calculated that I need to scale the shell to 0.602 wide and 0.166 high in the UV domain. How can I accomplish this? Scaling manually with R is eyeballing.

Thanks!

Hello @systembolaget

Thank you for posting.

I am not sure if you meant to post this is the Installation & Licensing board, I can move this post for you.

Can you let us know what application you are using?

No pro user has a tip how to scale a shell TO a certain U or V dimension... like being able to enter the desired U or V value? Using R only allows eyeballing and the UV Toolkit only allows for a Scale factor, but not a certain dimension.

Thanks!

Hi!

Use Modify -> Layout (...Packing Region:) .

So... where should I enter the desired U and V sizes for the shell shown on the left? U needs to be 0,08 and V needs to be 0,602.

Thanks!

Hi!

You need to set Packing Region to "Custom" to be able to enter the U and V coordinates.

Ok, thanks a lot, that works. I changed the highlighted settings to scale the five adjacent shells (five meshes from five NURBS surfaces that in 3D form a bent brushed brass strip of a specific size) with no gaps between them to the desired U and V size. Very good!
