Re-import .obj and overwrite existing meshes?

I model in Qubicle Contrustor and animate in Maya.  I want to modify my model in Qubicle Constructor as needed and simply have Maya do a re-import into the existing meshes where the names match.  Is this possible?  Some quick attempts at this did not pan out and I always get duplicates on the re-import.

Likely need to use references.

 

Reference the model into the maya scene instead of importing it.

But if you want to just replace stuff you can use the 'replace objects' function under modify.
