Question about UV mapping, how to merge points

Hi folks! I need to ask a question!
My UV texturing skill is not good and while Im learning I face certain challenges with irregular paths.
As you can see this wood plank is from a ship shell border so the geometry is not always the same size, but in the UV map editor, Its too time consuming to adjust the uv points manually for every polygon
How can i set them all to the same position automatically so the texture will look regular through all surfaces?
I tried to merge UVS but nothing happened
