Old rig blink and glitch problem

Hello! I encountered a problem with setting up my poses with the well-known but old enough rig Bony (and his friend Beefy too). As shown below, when I move it, strange glitches happen and parts of it disappear.

I was suggested to try to change Evaluation mode from "Parallel" to "DC" (Settings>Animation>Evaluation), but it didn't help.

Maybe the clue is in this import notification:

"The file being loaded contains mental ray nodes and the mental ray plug-in is not loaded. To render using mental ray, obtain the plug-in from the NVIDIA mental ray download page."?

I tried the modern Azri rig from the Game Anim book - it works just fine. But Bony and Beefy work fine too but not with me (

Any idea where I could find a solution? Thanks for help!

Hi @Anonymous

What version of Maya are you working with and is it up to date?

This might be a GPU issue if its just the visual glitch but everything looks fine when animating. What GPU are you using and does the driver version match with our certified hardware list?

You can find our certified hardware list here!

Hello, @sean.heasley Thanks for your answer!

I use student 2019 Maya and just have tried 2018 with the same result (

My gear is i7-8700k Integrated Graphics (Intel UHD Graphics 630) which looks similar to certified Kaby Lake HD Graphics P630 from the list, but it's not, right?

Strange thing that more heavy and sophisticated rig of Azri (https://www.gameanim.com/product/azri-rig/) works just fine so my hope was that it's something wrong with settings or something.

Since we both lean towards a GPU issue, should I close this topic with accepted solution, cause it'll take time before I get a new GPU and check if it works?

Thanks for your help!

UPD: oh, I've just noticed that magic Maya output window! While I'm dragging the rig it's tracing:

"OpenCL Error: Out of device memory.
OpenCL Error: Out of resources.

..."

So it's in GPU, right? Or maybe there is any chance to toggle OpenCL for something or I don't know...

Hi @Anonymous

A more powerful GPU would always help but before you rush out and buy one you can try:

1. Update you graphic card driver

2. Try disabling OpenCL by adding this line to your Maya.env file.

MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1

This file can be found at Documents->Maya->Maya 2019.

Let me know if that helps!

Oh my! It had happened the second before I gave up!

After several attempts of uninstalling/reinstalling, driver and updates checks, settings drop and dances with shaman's tambourine it got worse. My old files stopped opening, so do those cursed rigs, which looked glitchy. Maya started to freeze every time I try to CTRL+R something or CTRL+O my old file. The ray of light fell down when I suddenly opened the Azra rig!

So I did my last endeavor and tried disabling OpenCL by adding

MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1

to Maya.env file.

Eventually, it helps!

Thank you very much, @sean.heasley )
