I am a newbie but oversaw a series of animations that used an early version of Maya, with two scenes needing slight reworking. I found backup CD's with the .mb files for those scenes along with everything else associated with the project, all in clearly labeled folders. When I tried to open the .mb scene however, I just see a blank green screen in the viewport. The names of the correct objects in the scene do show up in a list view, and the attributes pane shows values for the objects that seem right, but I can't see the objects themselves and nothing happens when I slew the timeline. I put the scene file into the documents/Maya/default/scenes folder (am on an M1 Mac) where I think it should be. That backup CD also has a movie file from the rendering and that is how I determined that this is the correct scene file. I believe that the project originally was done on a PC and I am now loading it onto my Mac so perhaps there is a file path issue from objects that were referenced but not in the scene file, and if so then do I find the object files and put them somewhere and then specify the new/correct file path, or what? I could send along the .mb file itself of course if that is helpful to get me over this hurdle.
