Mismatch between Viewport and Arnold texture projections

Hopefully this is an easy fix, but it’s been driving me mad for the last two hours and I can’t seem to find anything about it online!

I’ve created a much simpler scene to illustrate the problem (so forgive the horrible geometry…) For some reason when I try to create a projected texture, everything appears to work as planned in the Viewport 2.0 render. The image is scaled correctly to the width of the Film Gate, and everything is in proportion.

However when I try to render it in Arnold, the texture gets weirdly stretched and scaled up, and no longer aligns to either the Gate or the geometry. This mismatch persists regardless of what combination of projection settings I use, whether I do it all again from scratch, and happens in both Maya 2019 and 2020… so I’m assuming it’s not a bug.

I’m sure there’s something obvious I’m missing, but how can I get my Arnold renders to align to the Viewport one?

Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous,

can you check if the result is consistent if you are using the Arnold projection shader: Camera Projection.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Patrick
