Issue trying to paint alembic geometry in Maya

Hi there! I've got an issue trying to paint an alembic file geometry in Maya 2018.
Alembic file was exported from animated FBX file and has all the UV map.
Once imported to Maya, I applied Lambert material and I used "paint>3d paint" option on right click mouse menu
Under Tool Setting paint tool, I used "Assign/Edit Textures" to create a new texture and then "Save Texture" option after.
Finally , when I try to paint the geometry what you see on the picture is what it happens and a big "X" is showed. So, it's impossible to paint the geo. Thank you in advance for any help. Steph.
I used Ogawa and HDFS with the same result
